I'm Svetlana, but I like it when people call me Lana. And my life is unbreakable connected with art, that's how was created my nickname (lanaart).
I grew up in Russia (Samara), where I studied art and academic drawing and painting.

At present I'm studying womenswear, fashion design at the London College of Fashion, which is part of the University of the Arts London.
For me, fashion is always about creating your own individual style. Whether it is urban, punk, mod or vintage, fashion allows us to wear our attitudes, interests, and lifestyles. Fashion is a reflection of what is going on within contemporary culture, with music, film, technology, visual arts, architecture, photography, and street cultures all feeding of each other. Fashion is as important as art and as definitive of a certain period in time. It's like a chameleon, always changing and forever elusive. Fashion gives people a form of self-expression, the ability to rebel, to stand out in the crowd or be accepted into a selective group. I try to create strong, capable, and extremely feminine women. A vice for some, entertainment for others, fashion is the advertising we wear to tell others about who we are. And can be friendship formers and romance enhancing. Fashion is enjoyed by just about everyone.

But at the same time I'm interested in many things such surface leather decorations, sculpture, beading and in particular studying graphic design and doing illustrations, sometimes for my projects, sometimes for different people or just for myself. I think that fashion is definitely linked with illustration; only a sketch can gives birth to a real outfit. The pictures I produce are "fashionable". I'm glad to catch a glimpse of contemporary life. That also explains why characters are so important in my work - people that express a lifestyle by themselves, and show their attitudes. Fashion is for me a way to emphasize aspects of any personality or circumstances.
